2020 Vision

Where there is no vision, the people perish” — Proverbs 29:18 (NIV)

The Hebrew word “vision” in this proverb means, “divine communication” and the word “perish” means “cast off restraint.” Thankfully, God still speaks to us through the Holy Spirit with the most common way through our reading of His Word.

2020 Vision

This coming year will be the only year that any of us will ever have spiritual 2020 vision. 😉 So, it seems wise to me for us to begin planning how we are going to study the Bible in the year 2020. Of course, we all should remember what God said in Proverbs 16:9 (ESV): The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. Still, planning is a good thing.

For me, I can think of no other book in the Bible that gives us the panoramic view of Christianity that the book of Romans provides. To provide you with a quick reminder:

To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. – Romans 1:7 (ESV)

The terms used in Paul’s greeting are the keynotes of the book of Romans. These keynotes are God’s callinglovegrace, and peace, which Paul explains at length in Romans.

Unless the Lord changes my plans, I think I shall begin my 2020 Bible study in the book of Romans. I pray that our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, will guide you in your preparation for the year of 2020 vision!
