This is where I add notes and thoughts as I study the Bible. Please feel free to comment.
When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen [liquid binding material] and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank.
Exodus 2:3
If we look, we can find Jesus everyplace in God’s Word. Noah’s ark was sealed with pitch. That pitch is what kept the flood – God’s wrath – from leaking in and killing Noah. That pitch is a type of Jesus’ blood. Likewise, when baby Moses’ life was threatened by Pharaoh’s wrath, he was protected by a baby-sized ark. Again, Jesus was in the pitch, shielding Moses from judgement! We, too, are sealed by the blood of Jesus from God’s wrath. How cool is that!
