Blessed is a Christian word. It is a spiritual word. It is a Biblical word. And it has been hijacked by our culture. It is worth noting that Jesus both began and concluded His earthly ministry blessing people.
First – Jesus Turns Water into Wine
John 2:2-3,10
2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples.
3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”
10 “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”
Last – Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
Acts 1:8-9
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
At the beginning of Christ’s earthly ministry, he blessed His mother and the bridegroom. At the end of His earthly ministry, He blessed His disciples with the promise that they would receive the Holy Spirit. At the start and end of Jesus’ earthly ministry, He was blessing by doing the miraculous to others.
