Finding the Heart of Jesus is unlike searching Amazon for a garden hose. Christ’s heart for us is to “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth1.”
It is the righteousness (morality, justice) of Christ’s commands that leads us into ever-increasing maturity and ever-increasing joy in our lives. Many times, during the earthly ministry of Jesus, people called Him rabbi, which means teacher. As the teacher, he laid out, within His commands, a narrow path2 that teaches us not just what we should do but who we should be.
You are seated with Jesus in heavenly realms3 if you are a Christian. Top that! It is for the full joy that awaits you in your heavenly home that you bear your cross4 just as Jesus bore His cross and endured its shame for the joy set before Him5.
Jesus wants us to share in His joy. It is God’s good pleasure for us, His children, to enjoy our new life in Him. Jesus said, “In this world we will have trouble6,” but from Christ Jesus, we receive peace7 and joy8.
The New Testament is overflowing with good things – joy, peace, love, reconciliation, eternal life, and so much more. Jesus told us the burden we bear for Him is a “light burden9.” Be encouraged. Prepare for joy!
