How we live our lives is of great importance. Life is an ongoing process, yet what we remember are the events. These include moments of great joy and deep sorrow, cheering for our favorite sports teams, and finding deep spiritual meaning in quiet times with Jesus, our Lord.
Back when Israel was still in the desert, a disreputable prophet named Balaam was hired to curse Israel. But when he tried, he could only speak blessings upon them. Here’s the last part of his first attempt:
Let me die the death of the upright,
and let my end be like his!”
– Numbers 23:10 ESV
A commentator wrote, “Let my last end be like his” without any anxiety about living his life [1]. The Holy Spirit had the Apostle Paul write, “Be anxious for nothing.”
I think we get wound up too easily and struggle to unwind in ways that are righteous. To be spiritually and physically healthy, we need to live in continual prayer with God.
Life is short. When we get to the end, it’s too late to change how we lived, whether we lived without anxiety or succumbed to worry. Let’s choose the better path: a life in Jesus and His peace that surpasses all understanding.
