My wife and I are currently visiting our son in Florida. We drove there because we’re staying for a month—yes, our son loves us enough to appear happy about our lengthy visit.
Twice, during our trip, a real need arose. Both times, I prayed, and immediately the problem was solved. That doesn’t make me a special Christian. What it does tell us is that God still answers prayer, sometimes within our next breath. There are times when it seems very difficult to pray or hear the voice of the LORD, but we have a promise:
Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.
– Isaiah 30:21 NLT
During these times when the noise of people around us seems to be drowning out the voice of God, we can turn to Psalms 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” This verse is love. This is like what I said to my kids on a stormy night. “Don’t be afraid, I’m right here.” Verse ten shows us God’s love.
Still, right now, worldly people may call us foolish for loving someone who is unseen. That’s not our problem. We know God, and we are known by God, if we have received the salvation purchased by Jesus Christ. Verse ten is love; however, verse eleven emboldens us.
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us;
The God of Israel is our fortress. (Interlude)
– Psalms 46:11 NLT
God is among us, and He surrounds us. We are reminded that the God in this and every Psalm is the one true God. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He is the God who set the Jews free from Egypt.
Right now, God is beside you and alive in you!. Verse eleven assures us that as long as we remain in God’s will, we are among the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!
Live for Jesus. That’s what matters.
